Some mistakenly think of us as dour old coves, cowering away in our mildew-ridden fortress spreading misanthropy and disquiet towards the legion little guitar outfits with their rancid ditties and dreams of a world that is reduced to Camden and Shoreditch. But we actually really rather love music, in the same way as the bench quencher’s lips seek to kiss his bottle, or the wizened sailor far from home imagines the curves of the mermaid. We’ll therefore go out on a limb to say 2010 has, thus far, been one of the finest we have known in our lifetimes, and have decided to celebrate it.

Next week, mailout service may be interrupted as John and I are in the Arctic somewhere near a deactivated NATO base.
